Terms of Service
Last updated: July 22, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the FairBill Android application and this website (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What FairBill is — and is not
FairBill is an informational tool that analyzes billing documents you provide — checking arithmetic, coding patterns, and price benchmarks — and helps you prepare dispute correspondence. FairBill is not:
- Medical advice — it does not evaluate whether care was appropriate or necessary;
- Legal advice or representation — dispute letters are templates you review, edit, and send at your own discretion;
- Financial or insurance advice — decisions about paying, disputing, or appealing are yours;
- A guarantee — flags indicate possible issues to investigate, and benchmarks are estimates based on available data. Billing errors and savings are not guaranteed.
2. Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate information and only documents you are entitled to use;
- Verify findings with your provider and insurer before acting on them;
- Meet your own deadlines — reminders in the app are a convenience and depend on your device's settings, not a substitute for tracking obligations yourself;
- Comply with applicable law when using the Service.
3. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your own non-commercial use. You may not reverse engineer, resell, or use the Service to provide billing-audit services to third parties without our written permission.
4. Your content
Bills, claims, and plan details you provide remain yours and — as described in our Privacy Policy — are processed on your device. You are responsible for the documents you submit to the app.
5. Third-party services
The Service integrates optional third-party services: Google AdMob (advertising), Firebase Authentication (optional sign-in), and the Google Gemini API (optional cloud analysis mode). Your use of those features is also subject to the applicable Google terms and policies.
6. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT AUDIT RESULTS ARE COMPLETE OR ERROR-FREE, THAT ANY DISPUTE WILL SUCCEED, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED.
7. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FAIRBILL AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY AMOUNTS YOU PAY OR FAIL TO RECOVER ON MEDICAL BILLS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (WHICH, FOR A FREE APP, MAY BE ZERO).
8. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may modify or discontinue features at any time. We may update these Terms; continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be noted in the app or on this page.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer operates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction unless applicable law provides otherwise.
